Cairde Eiméid - Be part of it!

The club is delighted to say that Cairde Eiméid currently has 255 members.
Emmet’s GAC would like to extend its many thanks and appreciation to each and every member of Cairde Eiméid. If you are not yet a member, please contact any of the committee for more detail on the benefits of Cairde Eiméid and information on how to get involved.

The GAA is a part of the fabric of life in Slaughtneil. Since the formation of our club, our club members have generously committed their time, energy and financial help to provide impressive facilities for our teams, schools, community and parish events. As a club we should continue to be proud of who we are and where we are from.
In recent years we have witnessed the completion of our new pitch, the installation of floodlighting, extended grassed areas and the erection of the Ball Wall. Short term plans include the replacement of ball stops as well as continued improvement and maintenance of our facilities. The club is continuing to build on our strong association with An Carn and is actively promoting our Irish culture through the mediums of music, dance and language.
The continued rise of annual running costs of our club, coupled with proposed government cutbacks in grant aid to sporting bodies, means that it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet our financial expenditure. While the club is continually looking at ways of reducing spend, it is inevitable that fundraising is required.
The Cairde Eiméid scheme allows members, parents and friends of the club to pledge financial support for the betterment of Emmet’s GAC Slaughtneil. Cairde Eiméid members are asked to pledge £10 per month from the 1st April 2011 (which equates to less than £2.50 per week). Participation in Cairde Eiméid will mean that as individuals, we can all play a vital role in the club’s ability to invest in all aspects of our games and disciplines.
Funds raised through Cairde Eiméid will assist in the provision of such items as:
  • Continued coaching for our 400 young members.
  • Maintaining and growing our coaching and youth development structure.
  • Incorporating "Go Games" and the Gaelic Start Programme.
  • Sports facilities for all regardless of ability.
  • A safe and positive environment and a healthy lifestyle for the youth of our community.
  • Maintenance and improvement of facilities which are available for community and parish events
To ensure we make the most of any financial support our members and community gives us, the club has recently achieved Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status. This means for every £100 donated to the club by a tax-payer (via Cairde Eiméid or any other means) the club will be able to receive an additional estimated £24 from Inland Revenue. The club is therefore encouraging all tax-payers to sign the club’s ‘Gift Aid’ declaration.
